Being Accountable

I’m often asked why accountability is so important. Surely punishment isn’t a loving way to live. At that point I ask what the definition of accountability is.

I have always felt it to be about being willing to take responsibility for our actions and to “fess up” when we make a mistake. If we never acknowledge we’ve got it wrong, then we can’t learn and grow.

In addition, for me accountability is about looking at the ledger to see what is being added to the plus column and how that is helping the minus column. After all, the more we add plus to who we are, the more we see the growth and become a role model for others.

How do you see accountability?
