Are you as good as your word?

Posted: 18 Feb 2020

Being authentic has never been more important than now. However, what does that mean?

Does it mean speaking your truth without thought to the impact on others? Is it about priding yourself on all you have accomplished? Will it mean that you stand for your beliefs no matter the outcome?

All of these could well be interpreted as being authentic. In fact you are being you. All of these have and may lead to war and conflict. They appear to focus on who is right and who is wrong.

My question is this. Are you being the best you that is possible? If speaking your truth harms another is that the outcome you seek? Is there a way to do this so that common ground is found and new pathways developed?

If our world is to change perhaps being authentic could be more about the bridges you build than how often you are proven right? There is kindness in one – and ego in the other.
