How To Be You

There’s something rather extraordinary that happens when we stop trying to be anyone else. When we let go of the carefully curated versions of ourselves we think we ought to be, and simply allow what’s already there to breathe. It’s not always comfortable, this becoming ourselves. But it’s perhaps the most important work we’ll ever do.

When Do You Feel Most Alive

You know those moments, don’t you? When time seems to shift and everything feels right. Not perfect, necessarily, but right. True. These moments aren’t always where we expect to find them.

For some of us, it’s when we’re creating something – hands covered in paint or flour, words flowing onto a page, a melody taking shape. For others, it’s in deep conversation, when we’re truly seen and heard. It might be in movement – running, dancing, swimming – when our bodies remember something our minds have forgotten. Or perhaps it’s in quiet moments of solitude, when the noise of the world finally settles and we can hear ourselves think.

These moments of aliveness are breadcrumbs. They’re showing us the way home to ourselves. When we’re most alive, we’re not performing or pretending. We’re not second-guessing every word or action. We’re simply here, fully present, doing the thing that makes our soul say “yes, this.”

The invitation is to notice these moments. To become curious about them. What are you doing when time disappears? When do you forget to check what other people think? When does your energy expand rather than contract? These aren’t random moments – they’re revealing something essential about who you are.

The Challenge and the Opportunity

We face two things. One is the Challenge to be who we truly are.

The second is to take the opportunity to be who we truly are. And sometimes the challenge seems like an opportunity and the opportunity seems like a challenge!

The Challenge: Distinguishing between the ego-self we’ve constructed and the soul-self we truly are. Learning to hear the quiet voice of soul beneath the loud demands of personality, conditioning, and external expectations. Trusting soul’s guidance when it contradicts what seems logical or safe.

The Opportunity: Discovering the deep knowing that lives beneath our thinking mind. Learning to recognise soul’s language—the pull, the resonance, the sense of rightness that has nothing to do with reason. Finding that when we live from soul rather than ego, our path unfolds with a grace we couldn’t have orchestrated.
